The Farming for Freedom Trail Initiative is made possible by Khuba International

Khuba International is an Indigenous and Black women-led non-profit organization that integrates youth education, sustainable agriculture, diversified forestry, and community development through hands-on programming and inclusive partnership-building. We are based in Tompkins County, New York. Our activities particularly seek to engage and empower community members impacted by racism, redlining, and colonization, and families from disadvantaged backgrounds. We support Indigenous, Immigrant, and Black community members of Central New York who wish to access land and farm. Areas of focus include: cooperative farming, Immigrant, Indigenous, and Black-led land access, food sovereignty, literacy, and sustainable agriculture outreach. Programming ranges from deeding land to Black, Indigenous, and Immigrant community land trust organizations to free and low-cost book distribution to Immigrant, African Diaspora, and Indigenous youth and students in need of expanded access to home libraries, to the installation of raised beds for African diaspora and food-insecure families.
